About the Challenge

The Active Travel Challenge is for everybody in Cornwall.

However much physical activity you make at the moment, can you challenge yourself to do that little bit more during sunny June?

This is your online tool to get motivated and challenge yourself to walk, wheel, run, scoot, cycle, car share, or take public transport for more of your everyday journeys from 1 to 30 June.

Join people across Cornwall leaving their car at home and do something to benefit your well-being, wallet and the world.

What is the Challenge?

The Challenge is free to join.

Everyone living or working in Cornwall can take part. We love to see organisations and workplaces taking part, creating teams and encouraging others to get involved.

Compete as an individual, or take part with your colleagues and friends. Set targets if you like, and encourage each other.

Log any journey whether it's your regular commute, trip to the shops or leisure activity, the school run, or business trip.

Your journeys then count towards great prizes.

Register today and log in daily to record your journeys from 1 June. We will send you regular e-newsletters to keep you motivated, and inform the prize-winners.

If you are working from home, record your walking, cycling, scooting, running or wheeling daily activity.

The website unlocks discounts and rewards for reaching journey targets. View your personal profile dashboard [located under the 'Me' dropdown] to see your stats, and claim Rewards.

Special prizes

Thanks to Raleigh Bikes and Micro Scooter, we are awarding some amazing prizes to 3 lucky winners who have worked hard throughout June to get more active.

Micro Scooters is the premium kids scooter brand. Over 1 million families scoot to school on one of their scooters every day. The brand is parent founded and run, B Corp and Carbon Neutral certified and also runs ScooterAid - a charitable scheme to revamp old scooters and rehome them with those who may otherwise miss out.

Raleigh is one of the world's oldest and best-known bike brands. Established in 1887 in Nottingham, England, we’re still based in our hometown. Whether you're a fair-weather fun rider or an everyday 'rain-or-shine' enthusiast, your new ride is waiting just around the corner - check out the Raleigh range, from Electric bikes to Kids bikes and everything in between.

Why take part?

Take part because it’s a great way to challenge yourself to get active and try some new ways of getting to work as well as getting around your local area.

Walking, scooting, wheeling, cycling, and running on your commute or local journey are great ways of incorporating exercise into your day; whilst public transport and lift-sharing reduce congestion and can save you money.

Join up with your workplace, or social group to try to win the team prize; get fitter, feel good, and do your bit to keep Cornwall's air clean!

Which journeys count?

All journeys to work or for work that are carried out on foot, by bike, car-share or public transport.

Trips to the shops, a leisure activity, taking the kids to school, or a walk, jog, run, or cycle at such as at lunchtime to keep active also count.

How do I win?

Individuals

To climb the leaderboard you must make and log lots of journeys rather than a small number of long journeys.

It's not about being an athlete; we love to hear about you making regular changes to your everyday local trips and commute, however small. There are prizes for sharing your stories and photos too.

Workplaces

If you have entered or joined a workplace or organisation, your participation counts towards your workplace total. The winning workplace in each size category will be the one that has the highest percentage of those signed up recording journeys.

Spread the word at your workplace and encourage your colleagues to travel sustainably or to take some exercise during the day.

Logging just one journey is enough to be included as a participant, helping your team to climb the leaderboard.

We're hoping those who participate will be encouraged to make their new ways of travelling an ongoing habit.
